An edge profile can change how a countertop feels every day. Before you approve the edge, look at the actual sample under the same lighting you will live with — not only at a showroom display piece under spotlights.
This checklist supports a fabrication conversation with Blue Sky Granite and Marble. It does not replace the written template or the fabricator’s technical limits.
Name the edge with the fabricator’s term
Write the exact profile name Blue Sky uses for the sample you touched. Casual words like “rounded” can map to more than one cut. Photograph the sample beside a ruler when you can. Ask whether the chosen edge is available in both the granite and quartz options you are comparing.
Check corners, seams, and overhangs together
An edge that looks right on a straight run can behave differently at an exposed corner or a seating overhang. Ask how the profile turns the corner and whether a different treatment is recommended at the bar top.
Read about Blue Sky’s granite countertops when the slab choice and the edge must be decided together. The same page is useful reading about granite.
Ask how the edge affects cleaning and chipping risk
Sharper decorative edges can show wear differently than softer profiles. Ask for a practical maintenance note for the stone and finish you selected rather than a generic care sheet. If you are still choosing materials, keep the edge decision beside Blue Sky’s pages reading about quartz countertops.
Confirm sink mounting and cooktop cutout specs with the edge
Put the approved edge on the same sheet as sink mounting style and the cooktop manufacturer’s required cutout and installation specifications. Ask Blue Sky when edge and cutouts must be finalized and how a change after templating could affect fabrication, cost, or timing.
Ask who handles plumbing disconnect and reconnect
Ask Blue Sky who disconnects and reconnects plumbing and how that work is coordinated with templating and install. Confirm those arrangements in writing for your job.
Leave with a one-line edge approval
Before templating, you should be able to state the exact profile name, where it applies, any corner exceptions, and the attached sink/cooktop spec references. Keep that line with the fabrication packet.
